D&T – Point Cloud – Hexagon Mining technology for point cloud visualization in MS3D.

Hexagon Mining brings yet another great new feature to MineSight users. After the insertion of xViewer (a new, more agile and faster Viewer) in the work didactics, starting with the MS3D 10.50 version, a new Hexagon technology was added, used for the visualization of point clouds in a revolutionary way in MineSight, the Point Cloud.

With this new option, you can use RGB channel values to view an impressive amount of detail from any survey technology, be it Laser Scanner or Photogrammetry.

This new technology in MineSight is available for use together with xViewer, where all MineSight licenses have this new functionality, as the Point Cloud is available in the component core, existing in all license packages.

To import this data, the user must click on the menu MineSight -> File -> Create Point Cloud and select the input and output destination, which will be generated in HPC (Hexagon Point Cloud) format. In this interface, the user will correlate the input file columns.

Once the HPC file is created, later you can click on a folder with the right button on a folder -> New -> Point Cloud View.

Visualizations are instantaneous, requiring the use of xViewer to enable the visualization of Point Cloud objects.

Point Cloud together with xViewer has a revolutionary technology, which provides fast and dynamic views, for viewing thousands of points directly in MineSight!

The examples of Point Cloud files listed below illustrate the surveys of stockpiles and an underground gallery, respectively.

This way, the application of this tool goes beyond the mine routine, being able to import point clouds from different surveys. With the use of MSDART it is possible to perform mathematical operations on the initial data by transforming the information of the various spectrometric bands in the input data. In this way, it is possible to compose bands to highlight some specific property and thus improve the delineation of contacts between desired zones.

In addition, Point Cloud files already have full integration with Point Cloud Mesher. Point Cloud Mesher is a simple application tool, created with the aim of facilitating and improving work with large surfaces. It gives MineSight users the ability to triangulate from a 3D perspective coming from big point cloud data. Three-dimensional representations of underground cavities, tunnels, complex topographies and with a high level of detail can be easily and quickly generated while preserving their original features. Hexagon Mining once again revolutionizes bringing integration and agility to the visualization of large point clouds. Point Cloud is available with all MineSight package licenses with valid maintenance and starting with MS3D version 10.50.
