Prominas Mining is growing and we are increasingly committed to bringing the most modern solutions to the mining market. We have a SPOT on our team for Principal Geologist with extensive experience in open pit and underground mining.
The Principal Geologist is responsible for the technical leadership of the geology discipline at Prominas. The Principal Geologist plays an important role in building and deploying technical capabilities in the geosciences community and in stimulating technology development at Prominas.
Reporting to the Director of Sales and Technical Services, this is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with Prominas Mining's team of experts on projects ranging from exploration planning, technical reviews, due diligence and feasibility studies.
The location is the Prominas office in Belo Horizonte. Frequent domestic travel and occasional international travel is a requirement for this position.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Development of technical proposals to meet customer needs;
- Work as a project manager, or as a technical specialist;
- Customer service from the beginning of the project to delivery, maintaining a regular follow-up;
- Prepare and review project reports, as well as present the main results to clients;
- Maintaining a wide network of professional contacts in the mining sector to consolidate and expand the relationship with Prominas' clients;
- Assist in marketing efforts;
- Geological modeling, reporting and resource auditing;
- Development, implementation, review and auditing of drilling databases;
- Design and implementation of short-term and long-term geological models using classical and implicit modeling techniques;
- Grade interpolation using geostatistics;
- Design and implementation of grade control routines;
- Reconciliation between geological models and production records;
- QAQC and integration between geology data, quality control, LIMs, etc.
About the candidate
- Over 15 years of mining experience in operational and consulting roles;
- Higher education in Geology or Geological Engineering;
- Postgraduate degree desirable;
- Previous experience in a similar role;
- Self-initiative to succeed in a fast-paced environment;
- Outdoor and underground experience;
- Experience in feasibility studies of mineral projects;
- Knowledge of computerized tools in use in the mineral industry;
- Sign public reports such as CP (Competent Person) or QP (Qualified Person);
- Experience in coaching and mentoring technical staff;
- Experience in producing project documentation, ie reports, feasibility studies, presentations, etc.;
- Interest in the development and implementation of new/innovative technology;
- The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of customers and other technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
