Tips & Tricks Prominas/MineSight: Operationalization and sequencing of mines with inclined benches.

In open pit mines located in regions of high rainfall, the need for a drainage system has always been a factor of great importance in mining activities. One of the most significant actions in this aspect, the conduction of effluents out of the pit, is the inclination of all the mine's mining banks so that they lead the water to previously studied collection points. Currently, the task of designing inclined mining plans in large-scale mines is extremely complicated due to the block model not being inclined, and it is at this point that the new proposed methodology will have its fundamental role: to facilitate the application of mine planning with inclined benches. in open pit mines in a simple and functional way.

Pit Expansion is an innovative MineSight tool for pit operations. With it, it is also possible to operate pits with inclined benches, which is a necessity in many mines. The drained operational plan is based on the inclined grids, to obtain the foot, crest and base lines. Face angle, general, berm width, ramp/slot angle will be calculated from the horizontal plane.

For different mine slope plans, you can define sectorization and treat them individually. The result is predefined areas with different slopes.

After creating and selecting the sloped grids in Pit Expansion, it is possible to configure the face angle, general angle and berm from plane to plane. In the same way, the starting point, width and direction of the route and slot are defined on the inclined plane.

With the operation of the pit completed, and preparing for sequencing, it is necessary to divide the pit into mining advance units consistent with the mining plan. Thus, the Auto Cut Generation tool is used to obtain, in one step, horizontal and vertical cuts based on inclined planes.
