D&T Promines | Drillhole Manager – Calculated Sample Attributes

Calculated Sample Attributes: Variables calculated in MinePlan Drillhole Manager.

Did you know that the MinePlan Drillhole Manager Can you perform calculations and store your results in a variable for samples? In today's Tips & Tricks, we'll learn more about the variables calculated from the Drillhole Manager.

Calculated variables can be used in a variety of ways to help you with multiple tasks and analyses. To create a calculated field in MinePlan Drillhole Manager, access the project configuration area in Project 🇧🇷 setup. From the drop-down menu, select the option Calculated Sample Attribute. The variable must belong to one of the Coverages available, and must be configured according to its purpose. See, in Figure 1, the configuration window of a calculated variable.

When creating a variable of this type, you must create code that determines the searched value. In addition to direct calculations, mathematical, trigonometric, logical and conditional operations can be used. It is possible to reference attributes present in the Coverages and also attributes created for the hole, called Sample Site Custom Fields, as well as intrinsic characteristics of the hole, such as geographic position, length, type of hole, among others. Figure 2 shows the creation window of the script of the calculated field.

This function is quite versatile. Figure 3 introduces an example of use as a cap grade, limiting the influence of grades outliers. The code created analyzes the content stored in the variable Total Copper and, if it is greater than 2.9%, the value is replaced by this limit.

An alternative example is seen in Figure 4, where we create a conditional code, which assigns different values to each situation. In the lower right corner, we have instructions for creating conditional codes. After creating the script, we can validate the syntax using the button Validate Script.
